#5 lino cut - texture

Buck Roberts
Not much to go on about the piece or how it was made, but his name above is a link to his website.

Goonies House AP
Edition of 7
Linocut on Fabriano hot press
14" X 11" with a printed area of 13" X 10"
I love the fact this is the Goonies house! So much textrue in the sky, grass, wood of the house, and the brick on the foundation.

#4 linocut Balance

To Freedom, 2010Edition no. 2/4, linocut
Lucy Timbell studied printmaking at Adelaide College of the Arts. The theme for this piece was "flight".  The artist chose to create a boat of refugees fleeing to Australia.
I love the balance of the asymmetrical waves, and the weight of the boat that compliments the land in the upper left corner.

Title is the link to her site.

#3 Lino Cut Shape

Millie Wellington sells her work on Etsy. This is an incredible lino cut that represent abstract shape forming recognizable trees alongside Koloa Town near the Poipu shores known as a tree tunnel.

This lino cut is hand printed on mulberry paper. It is 9X12 and only 100 prints were made.
This print is for sale here.

#8 Collagraph texture

Ricardio

Originally an arcitect designer, Ricardio likes to make a create art of kinds, including collagraph.
Clear tape, metallic fabric paint, leftover lace and aluminum foil were used in the process.
I personally love all the texture he got from the stuff he used. Great curves on the greenhouse.

#9 Collagraph Color

Holy cow I love the color of this collagraph!
Artist is Sarah Mottaghinejad and this was her first collagraph.
She did not mention anything about size, but I love the piece regardless.

#12 Screenprinting Color+Emphasis

Though I do not listen to Daves Matthews Band, I really like this 4 color screen print they used for their Toronto show during a tour.

Printed on French Speckletone Madero Beach paper. Dan from www.dkngstudios.com/ makes these wonderful prints.
I love the use of the Autumn colors and how the antlers are a tree.

#11 Screenprinting Patter/Repetition

                                                        Shepard Fairey

Peace and Justice Woman

Shepard Fairey is well known for his Andre the Giant Obey posters and graffiti art throughout the world. I like this screen print of his for pattern and repetition due to the powerful use of lines in the background and the patterns below her hands. This piece invokes a strength in peace and power in placement of design.

Born in America in 1970. This piece is 18X24 and 450 prints were made.

#10 Screenprinting - Shape

Edward Ruscha was born in 1937. This screen print was made in 1966. I think it is a great use of shape. The angled shape of the building in contrast with the gas stations themselves is a real eye catcher.

50 editions were made of this print. It is 19 5/8 x 36 15/16" (49.6 x 93.8 cm) in size on a sheet that is 25 5/8 x 39 15/16" (65.1 x 101.5 cm).

#2 Lino Cut Line - Kathe Kollwitz, German (1867 - 1945)

For my linocut blog choice, I chose Kathe Kollwitz.

Born in 1867 in Konigsberg, East Prussia (now Kalingrad in Russia)...
She taught art at Berlin School of Women Artists for awhile.
She lost her son in WWI and wanted to honor him through art. The loss of Peter contributed to her socialist and pacifist political sympathies. Her grandson died in WWII as well.
Kathe became the first woman to be elected to the Prussian Academy of Arts, but in 1933, when Hitler came to power, she was expelled from the Academy . In 1936 she was barred by the Nazis from exhibiting, her art was classified as 'degenerate' and her works were removed from galleries.
Anyway...really intense art. I had the opportunity to see some of her artwork in person when I was younger and remained intensely effected by her art.

Embossed Bosses Obsessions #1

I found Inkandescence while I was on instructables.com; a really awesome place on the web.
I was particularly interested in the instructable on how to emboss velvet with rubber stamps.

Here is the tutorial:

Maggie Stanley and Loden Mohler also go by Inklings and Imprints.
Their artwork sold here (Etsy):

I also found this art piece by Henri Lefort des Ylouses
A truly interesting piece, in my opinion. Looks like organic matter was used.
